We encourage you to exercise at least 3-4 days a week, 45-60 minutes. You can typically do whatever you are accustomed to doing. If you have not previously exercised, slowly build into exercise. You do not have to monitor heart rate. As long as you can have a conversation, you are fine. If you are so out of breath it is difficult for you to speak, you are overdoing it. We recommend as your baby grows consider the risks to the baby with activities such as contact sports and even bicycling if your balance is altered.
It is ok to travel as long as you are not experiencing any complications in pregnancy. We recommend you stop air travel at 36 weeks. Once you are showing, some airlines require a note to fly. If you travel by car or airplane after 36 weeks, you just want to be willing to deliver wherever it is that you are choosing to go. Of course, you would not want to choose remote locations without services available. In car travel, you will want to stop every 1.5-2 hours for a bathroom break and walk around for at least 10-15 minutes – this prevents blood clots. You want to stay hydrated.
Make your stylist aware because pregnancy can effect processing.
If you are out in the sun, make sure you use sunscreen. You want to increase the SPF from what you typically use as well. You are more likely to burn in pregnancy. Tanning lotions and sprays are ok. No tanning beds.
Do not use a hot tub or sauna during pregnancy.
Massage is ok the entire pregnancy.
Due to health concerns, you need someone to change your cat’s litter box for you. If you garden or work in yard, make sure you wear gloves because neighborhood cats may be using the bathroom in your garden/flowers. No restrictions with dogs. If you have reptiles and fish, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly after handling.
Do not want to use oil-based paint. You want to be gone from your home for at least 24 hours if oil based paint is used in your home.
Constipation is very common in pregnancy. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 – 8 ounces of water per day. Make sure you are getting plenty of fiber 25-30 grams per day.
The goal is prevention as advised with 6 small meals, increasing protein and complex carbs to keep blood sugar stable. Make sure drinking plenty of fluids. Try to keep foods bland. You can try Ginger as directed. Preggy Pops can be helpful. If something becomes intolerable, contact us.
